Finding Your Inner Mermaid |
by Alicia Piazza |
Palm Beach has acquired some spunk with the metamorphosis of Manalapan’s staid Ritz-Carlton into the colorful Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. Eau launched its new makeover this year, and… WOW. What a clever collaboration with designer Jonathan Adler, who brings a fresh whimsical feel to resort vacationing with fun fabrics, bright colors and chic décor that is a fresh take on regency style. With this kind of design, you definitely will have a magical experience.
The unremarkable outside of the building belies the fun going on inside, until you pull into the drive. You feel the spirit immediately upon entering—visitors finally put down their cell phones and let themselves be mesmerized by this playful charming hotel.
The property sits on 7 acres surrounded by lush gardens and Florida’s iconic beaches. This hotel’s essence seems to have a sense of humor. When staying at Eau, a trip to the spa is mandatory; after all, Forbes magazine awarded its prestigious 5 star diamond. I would like to recommend the “Mermaid treatment” for some luxury foot pampering right on the beach. It’s divine. On your way to the spa, drop the children off at Aquanauts, which is a “pint size paradise.” The children will be swept away in a wonderland of dancing, art, and interactive theater where they can dress in costumes and preform on the underwater oyster stage.
Palm Beach is known for its sophistication, art galleries and old Hollywood charm. I always love the beautiful tree lined street, meticulous homes and manicured gardens. There is something special about the area that makes you sit up a little straighter and embrace tradition. The beauty of Eau is that you are able to admire this history while still embracing your childhood. What with whimsical design, poolside popsicles, and plenty of laughter…the atmosphere really does bring you back to a carefree time when everything was perfect and summer days lasted forever.
