The One and Only Palmilla: An Oasis of Luxury

Palmilla-ViewAfter visiting Palmilla, I now know why they call it the “One and Only.” I traveled there about a week ago with my husband, and we met other couples. What a beautiful resort! Impeccably landscaped, the rooms are also divine and have beautiful views that span the area. Settled in the Sea of Cortez in Los Cabos, Mexico, the Palmilla is quite spectacular.

The service, above all, is what impressed me the most. All of the rooms have a private butler who unpacks and packs your luggage. This leaves little time wasted while you are on vacation. My clothes, shoes and handbags were so beautifully arranged in the closet that it made me feel as though I should not disturb them.

The other noticeable service-related amenity is that the concierge is happy to oblige any request. For example, I wanted to take a cooking class and learn how to make ceviche and fish tacos. The property did not offer one, but they arranged one for my guest and I in the kitchen. They gave us a private lesson along with guacamole, homemade chips and margaritas, of course. It was a very special treat! They also emailed us the instructions to take home with us, so that I could share the recipe with friends and family during dinner parties.

Palmilla-AliciaThe small Catholic church on the premises was adorable. We went to the 45 min service on Sunday to wash away our three days of drinking and the priest was wonderful, well spoken and gave us a blessing as though it were our anniversary. The small cathedral could have been from a movie, and it was packed on Sunday morning. All in all, it was truly a sensational experience!

At the adult infinity pool, which overlooked the waves crashing on the beach, there were massage therapists giving 10 min foot massages free of charge. I think that was my favorite part of the trip (besides the tequila).

Palmilla-BreakfastThe food was outstanding. All of the local ingredients had vibrant colors. One a scale from one to ten, the food was a ten. All of the chefs were on point, and my favorite meal was the shrimp and fish tacos (that I ordered almost everyday by the pool for lunch).

I took some photos of a typical breakfast, and it looked like art. It was a true culinary experience, blending healthy food with a Mexican twist. The flavors would dance around in your mouth.

The Palmilla picks you up from the airport in a hummer, with a driver in uniform, and water and snacks in the car waiting for you. From the moment you are in their hands, they take care of you. It wasn’t easy on my husband’s wallet, though, so I hid the bill and said “just close your eyes and sign.”
